I forget how I got to your journal. But I was happy to see someone watching Chinese DVDs.
There should be a community for "people who have been to China, are in America right now, and are going back."

nice:) do you watch chinese dvds too? and where were you in china? were you teaching?

the community's a great idea. it'd be nice to feel like i'm not the only person obsessing over the past like this...

YES! That's it exactly :) "to feel like I'm not the only person obsessing over the past like this" lol

I was too lazy to try to find where non-pirated DVDs were sold... (I had a Singaporian friend who guilted me about it while I was there... not too sure how accurate his counsel was) so I brought NONE back. So I mostly watched the sappy same-plot-everytime dramas they showed on National TV everynight? Know those? They are hilarious. I understand about 10% of it? :) So I have (as you said) mostly no idea what's going on except by the context of the screen.

You didn't say where you'd like to go if not Hebei!

where i was in china, i don't know if they sold non-pirated dvds. i'm not sure i saw any, my whole time there. i kinda think even the expensive ones were pirated. i brought a bunch home. i went out of my way to get a couple of the cheesey late 80s/early 90s romantic comedies, too:) those are so great.

when did you ask where i'd like to go if not hebei? did i miss something? anyway, the answer is, i don't know yet. north of the yangtze river still, i think. i like having heat in the winter...
