so today i was a church leader. it went pretty well, and i'd do it again i think. i had a moment of anxiety before the service started, when i was standing in back reading over the stuff i'd be reading aloud and i realized that i never asked where i was supposed to stand during different parts. blocking, i guess:) i should've asked about blocking. "so today i was a church leader."

What's that mean?

just that i did... well, everything but the sermon. not that we had communion or anything that day. so i did announcements, read/sang the liturgy, read the gospel lesson, prayers of petition, greeting people as they walked out, stuff like that.

Wow. That's a lot for one person to do. Is that something that everyone in the church gets a chance to do sometimes?

oh no, the vast majority of people in my church would never want to do that:) this was made clear by their excessive praise to me for doing it. i think they only resort to doing this when the person they get to do the sermon isn't a pastor. my brother did a whole service at my church once, of course, sermon and all. that was a pretty big deal. it was maybe six or eight years ago, and some people still remember it. other than that, i don't remember a member of the congregation doing a service. maybe i just don't remember, of course. but i certainly wasn't chosen for any reason except that i was willing:)

ha:) who knows. now that the people at my church know that i can do it, they'll probably think of me next time they need a stand-in. however, i'm only home another two, two and a half months, then who knows if i'll be at home for extended periods of time again.

or maybe i should just start up my own church:) whaddaya think? wanna join?

Now that sounds like a good idea. I say you go for it. I mean, it can only be a good thing!
