Our computers are still relatively new, but I don't recall ever buying a new computer due to problems with updates. It's usually signs of failure like running extreely slowly because the hard drive is wearing out or the on/off switch becoming faulty. I did, however, recently buy a new tablet because various up dates to apps meant they would no longer run on the older version of Android. I bought my current phone because the old one didn't have enough memory to cope with app updates.

I don't know how long you've had your computer, but we seem to need to replace ours after about 7 years. At that point either the hardware starts to fail or the computer starts to struggle with new versions of software due to lack of memory or processing power.

However, since I need to install Office 365 for work soon, I'll get a good idea of whether the RAM is still adequate. I guess that will be a good test.
