Oh, ouch. This wasn't pretty, but that made it feel real. Made me feel bad for Mark and want to glare at him at the same time. The show only hints at stuff in the past of their marriage, but I could really see this.

Very interesting character study of Mark, and I liked the glimpses of Olivia it held as well.

Thanks! I'm been playing with this idea for a while and it just kind of came alive today. I remember feeling bad for Mark when Olivia found out he was drinking in his flashforward, because he hadn't actually drank yet and for her to be so worked up, I knew something serious must have happened in the past. Yes, he's an alcoholic, but it seemed like there was more to the story.

I do love his character...you feel bad for him, but he brings his own fate on himself. This was also my way of justifying Olivia for making him leave so quickly (they never really did explain him just leaving that one day) and I wanted his memories to shape her side of the story.

You're right, it wasn't pretty :) Something new for me to try. Anyway, I'm so happy you liked this!
