And you shouldn't let go of the birthday thing if it results in little stories like this! The birthday party made me hate Seth's selfishness and self-absorbed ways even more than I had previously, and I'd thought that impossible

The birthday party made me hate Seth's selfishness and self-absorbed ways even more than I had previously, and I'd thought that impossible. I know. Me too. Honestly, even this week's ep wasn't worse. It came close, but it wasn't as bad as that...
And since Seth organized the whole thing, it says the worst things about him. I get why he organised it the way he did--he always wanted a big party for himself and never got it, so he gave it to Ryan on the misguided assumption that what Seth Cohen wants, everyone wants. Still, what may have cute when he was a child (his total lack of attention to others, sometimes) is turning annoying now, and will cause him loads of trouble as an adult if he doesn't reign it in.
Loved the 'Thanks for caring' smile at the end. Ryan didn't get to use it often last season, did he? Nope... Poor woobie. I wonder how the actors felt when they read the scripts last season. I doubt very much we'll ever know, but I really wonder if they felt as cheated as the viewers felt when they read the stupid scripts.
Annnnnd now I'm all caught up. My last time to annoy you tonight, helen.
I only pray that Seth in the last epi isn't reverting to the Seth of yore with the damn whining self centeredness or it will really spoil what TPTB have going for them so far this season. Maybe Seth will come through for him when dear old Dad starts doing whatever he's going to do with Ryan. I can dream, can't I?
Now let me say how much I am enjoying this. I can't wait for the last part, which should be from S4 if I am understanding your progression here. This last epi should give you alot to work with!
Are you kidding? You're not annoying me in the least. I'm a feedback whore.
I hope Seth will not go back to his season 3 persona as well--I hated him in the last episode. And frankly, it's too bad, because sometimes, I'm so annoyed with him that I don't pay attention to the nice things he does. I wish we could see some character growth on his part--it doesn't seem like he changed much since season 1, does it?
The next part will be season 4 indeed--well, post-Graduates, actually. That still counts as season 4, right? Of course, it does...:)
Today I'm gifting myself with delayed Christmas presents in the form of the stories I've missed over the past couple weeks. This, Helen was a complete and utter delight. May I tell you how thrilled I am that you're not letting that birthday thing go, because seriously Seth should be making amends for that thoughtless fiasco until he's eighty. (Oh yes, Seth-lovers on TWoP; he's such a generous, caring friend; just look at the proof.) Sadie said exactly what I would have, and what somebody should have said to Seth on the show.
Thank goodness Seth has Summer, who is smart and knows something about friendship. And thank goodness we have you to atone for that horror of a birthday party.
P.S. I could see Ryan's "thanks-for-the-car-keys" smile exactly.

Seth totally sucked in that episode - more than usual, which says a great deal.
Thanks for this, and I'm wearing my "Thanks for caring" smile, too!!!
