Important question...

May 06, 2015 21:56

I've never gotten around to watching Gilmore Girls but the gifsets I've seen on Tumblr have made me curious.

Should I watch it?

I'd appreciate any and all advice, considering it's seven seasons long.

I've seen snatches of it and always enjoyed those snatches. I never saw any episodes with Adam Brody in though!

Well, he was only in 9 out of 154 episodes. Easy to miss if you only see snippets. But played a really nice guy.

Hee, apparently, quite a few people made a guest appearance...

Thanks! I caught a few glimpses as well but never sat to watch an episode.

I would say - yes.
But I also have a rather specific reason to watch - Baby!Jared :D
Who was named Dean there and had a rival named Jess just to move on to Supernatural where suddenly his brother is named Dean and his girlfriend named Jess. #TVnameconfusion

It would be confusing--and amusing (if, like me, you're easily amused. Hee.)

Thanks!

And apparently he is in Bruges today. Isn't that right around the corner from you or do I have that confused with someone else?

Indeed, that's in Belgium. (Though we're weird about distances. We live in a small country, so an hour long drive is considered long. Bruges is about 2 and a half hour from where I live, which I consider a long way away.)

I made it through season one, or at least most of it. Got frustrated at Lorelai's romantic life being an absolute catastrophe. If your tolerance for that is higher, it does have some good family vibes, and some fast-paced dialogue. (If you like Lorelai's brand of banter early on, I'd say you're good to go. Because she does that a LOT.)

Well, I've watched a few Aaron Sorkin shows. His characters certainly know how to banter, and rant, and talk really fast.

Thanks--I might give it a try, even if I need to fast-forward through the annoying parts.

The love life of both Lorelai and Rory frustrated me to no end.
They didn't deserve Luke or Dean because either Gilmore girl never appreciated them and they always were fast to ditch them for any new shiny bad boy coming to town

I enjoyed it, finding it long after it was off the air.
The dialogue is a good/bad thing - it's smart and witty, but it can either make you happy or annoy you. Worth the look, imho.

And one of the 'boyfriends' is Cary from The Good Wife. V.v.cute.

Thanks! I might give it a try--there's always the option to stop watching.

I watched a few Aaron Sorkin shows, so I must have at least some tolerance for that kind of dialogue. ;)

Yes! It's fun, and has a wide variety of female characters, of ages, nationalities- and interestingly for American shows- economic class.

I agree that Lorelai's love life can be annoying at times, but I think the show accurately reflects how families both biological and found support, tease, infuriate and love each other and though obviously it's a heightened depiction, I found it charming.

The few gifsets I saw on Tumblr did seem amusing, and I always got the feeling that it was the kind of show I might enjoy, but never got around to watching it. It's always daunting to start watching a seven seasons show.

Thanks, I'm probably going to at least give it a try. We'll see how that goes. ;)
