I haven't been around much, mostly because there hasn't been much to tell and January tends to depress me, making me even less talkative than usual ( Read more... )

I drink tea (well, I would wouldn't I? Hee) Just common tea with milk. I was introduced to Chai by Maud and I like that too - it's spicy and warming but also refreshing. Starbucks make it with milk but I like it without. I also drink Earl Grey (with milk though with lemon can be nice too) but that can be an acquired taste. Good luck!

Tea in general is an acquired taste, at least for me. But drink three cups a day for a week, and you get used to it.

Thanks for the "recs". :) There are so many types and flavors, it's hard to know what to choose!

Diet Snapple counts as tea, right?
I'm recommending either raseberry or peach diet snapple.
Which shouldn't be a shock since it's all I drink.

I was just telling my kids today that in one more week, we will have 'survived' January. Sad, but true. It's a Boo! month.

That it is! Just one week to go! We just might make it...

Ah, addictions are fun. :)

I love peppermint tea, or just mint tea (there are several different kinds of mint herbs (but you probably knew that already)). I like herbal infusions to steep for quite a while, several minutes (at least 5), but then I like strong flavors. Mint tea is great for my stomach problems as well (I have IBS ( ... )

It's not the first time I try to stop diet coke. A few years back, I didn't drink any at all for about ten months. Then, I allowed myself to have one. And another. And another... And I was right back at square one. I don't even drink that much, but I'm much too used to that sweet taste... :)

Thanks for the tea "recs"! It's difficult to choose at first...

I have been a tea drinker since I was little; my mom was British. My favorite black tea is English Breakfast and I love a good Jasmine. It's important to try different brands, and I have become rather particular. Fresh is always better, and I keep mine in a dark drawer or in tin cans. Tea bags for every day, but loose leaves are nice for better teas and, with friends over, it can be fun to steep a pot and share, or even steep a small pot for yourself and sip a way at it for a while. I love green teas but, as mentioned above, don't let it steep too long as it become bitter. I keep about 4 or 5 different caffeinated teas in my drawer plus several herbal for evening drinking. I like chai, also, not too sweet. Tea is fun to try for all the different flavors, to see what you like for different times of day and your different moods. Have fun and enjoy!

I mostly use tea bags for now, but I might try to use loose leaves next time I buy some. I hear it's better.

Yes, I made the mistake of letting green tea steep too long last week, and I could barely drink it.

Thank you! :)

I love Nana (mint) tea.

And I just heard the same story about the guy that might be confirmed as secretary of treasurer. Something about not paying his taxes

Oh, yes, I heard about the potential secretary of treasure a while back...
What's wrong with these people?
Wait, don't answer that! They're politicians (and whether they're Democrats or Republicans--or our local equivalent--doesn't seem to change a thing. The guy who didn't pay his taxes is right-wing. A woman from the left-wing used a public credit card to buy sweets, flowers, luxury hotel rooms and other things equally necessary to her functions. Neither seems even remotely sorry.)
Apparently, just because they're elected, they feel that they're entitled to spend public money as they want, even for their own pleasures...

I know.
It's so frustrating. Especially to us hardworking middle class individuals.
