He had the sinking feeling Wanda had made up her mind and no matter what the tribunal said she was doing what she wanted. Ian was torn at this whole thing, he knew with Melanie aware it wasn't right to make her live imprisoned inside her own body, but that selfish side was taking control. The side that just didn't want to lose Wanda, even if she was one of them. She was so different from the other Souls, she saw herself as flawed yet to him she was just human, she was perfect. He made his way to doc's office when he couldn't find Wanda anywhere. When he got there it was just in time for Melanie to wake up.
The ache that struck his heart was unbearable. She had gone through with it and as hurt as he was he saw her as amazing. He had known and felt how much she wanted to stay yet that noble creature she was had still made the sacrifice to give Melanie her life back with Jared. He saw the tank with her in it and took it from Doc's hands. He gave a warning glance at him to try and take her from him. He was surprised by Jared and Melanie wanting to keep Wanda around as well. They devised a plan and the others left with Ian staying behind. He didn't care what she looked like, he just wanted her. He sat looking in the tank watching her.
All silver and shimmery, she looked beautiful. When they came back and all was said and done he looked at the body that would become hers. So young, he just hoped it was not too young. Though he wasn't sure that would even stop him at this pint unless she was overly young. He wouldn't let anyone else help Doc. This was his place and his alone. It wasn't that he didn't trust those he called friends, it was just this was something he had to do.
When she was placed in his hand he cupped her gently and looked down at her. She wasn't a worm or centipede as most called them. She was like a beautiful silvery ribbon. He was amazed by her beauty, looking inside the tank had been nothing compared to this. To seeing her fully mobile and vibrant in his hands. He watched as Doc took her and placed her at the incision at the back of the young blond's neck. He was awed as he watched her take hold. He sat with the others waiting for movement. They all knew he wanted to be the first voice she heard, the first face she saw when she awoke in this new body.
He leaned back just watching, even this body was beautiful but the real beauty would take hold when Wanda awoke. When she stirred he moved and spoke her name. When she looked up and saw him, as soon as their eyes met he could see the recognition. He could see the love there and this time she was his, there was no other in her head. They'd made sure. He was getting the woman he had fallen for, to him that's what she was. If any tried to tell him different he'd have to hurt someone.
He had his Soul.
