I just joined
picspammy and decided to do The Great Gatsby for their current challenge. I tried to choose actors and actresses who not only fit the parts but were also capable of handling them as well.
JAY GATSBY - CHRISTIAN BALE
The most obvious choice for the role would have been Brad Pitt. He's dead on for a young Robert Redford and acting gold(don't agree? watch The Legends of the Fall). But when rereading the book recently Christian was the first person to come to mind. He has the talent and the man would look delicious in the wardrobe. haha
DAISY BUCHANAN - CATE BLANCHETT
After reading the book and watching the movie, I found Daisy to be flaky and weak. I'd love to see someone with Cate's talent take on the role and make it her own. Perhaps make Daisy a little more likable and relatable.
TOM BUCHANAN - ROBERT DOWNEY JR.
I can't remember exactly, but I don't think we've ever seen RDJ play the villain. It'd be interesting to see him a little out of his element and see what he does with the character.
NICK CARRAWAY - JIM STURGESS
There's something about Jim that screams writer.
GEORGE WILSON - EDWARD NORTON
A phenomenal actor. I'd love to see how he plays out his characters final scene.
MYRTLE WILSON - MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL
The first person that came to mind when I was thinking of who could play Myrtle.
JORDAN BARKER - JENNIfER GARNER
She has an athletic look about her and I think she'd be believable in the role.
