[TMS] Carl Sagan quote

[Set in Livin’ on a Prayer. Ben is mini_dean and used with permission from his mun who made a request for a Ben/Haley kiss.]

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”

When the sun started to stream through the windows of her apartment, she groaned, curling in closer to the body next to her and pressing her face into Ben’s shoulder. She didn’t have to get up. School was off Thursday and Friday and seeing how today was Thursday, that meant she wasn’t obligated to rise, or shine. The sun, however, had other ideas, streaming in through the far window and right into her eyes. She could be a pretty heavy sleeper when she wanted to be, however the sun was totally killing her. Ben, however, seemed to be able to sleep like the dead, which she had to admit, was leaving her a little jealous.

She wasn’t about to bother him, though. He actually did have to work during the day, so he needed all the sleep he could get. And given he had about five minutes before the alarm started going off like a siren, she was going to let him have it. She would just stay where she was and curl up close, soaking up the moment while she had it.

Things had been going well for her and Ben. She knew thinking things like that would probably only jinx it, but she felt good about this. He was a sweet guy, regardless of his past, and one she was coming to like quite a bit. They were still in that phase where the more time they could spend with each other the better, and Haley was starting to dread him having to get up and get dressed, meaning that she would lose the warm body next to her.

The alarm was just about to start beeping next to his ear when she pushed herself up halfway to switch it off before it could go off. She wasn’t going to make him late, but she could think of a better way to wake him up than the harsh sound of the alarm. Once that was off, she settled in against him again, pressing a few soft kisses against his neck gently until she felt him start to stir.

“Babe, gotta get up.”

He groaned slightly as he rolled into her some. “Too early.”

She sighed softly as his arms moved around her, pulling her closer. “I know. But you’re gonna be late for work.”

“Why aren’t you up?” he frowned, shifting a little so that he was looking over at her. “Don’t you have school?”

“Nope,” she smirked. “Some kind of teacher conference thing that I could have gone to but decided against.”

Ben made a face. “Don’t gloat. It’s not cute.”

Haley’s eyes went wide, and her face melted into a bit of a pout. “It’s not?”

He looked at her for a minute, before smirking slightly as he leaned in to kiss her. She kissed him back, sliding an arm around his neck as she pulled him closer, letting one leg slide over his hip slowly. He groaned into the kiss and she felt one hand come down to slide over her thigh.

“Think Mitch will kill me if come in late?”

“I don’t think he’d appreciate it,” she sighed, tilting her head back as his lips moved down her neck. “But this is New York City. You could always say where was-traffic.” Her breath hitched between the last two words when he hit a sensitive spot on her neck and she pushed against him again.

“Knew there was a reason I liked you,” he grinned as he rolled her onto her back, sliding over top of her and pushing in closer. Haley leaned back against the bed, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him in. Yeah, Mitch was probably going to be pissed at her by the time Ben got into work, but as far as she was concerned? She really couldn’t care less.
