So he had caved just a little bit.

Just a little.

It was always a strong part of Apollo’s life to interact with Dionysus. As much as it stressed on his physical and emotional wellbeing on a constant steady basis, he couldn’t lie to himself when he knew that his time with Dionysus always gave him a sense of balance. Without that balance being fulfilled once and a while, he felt like a part of himself was being neglected.

It was odd to think of their fiery friendship like that, but it was as it was. Apollo knew himself to be a reasonable man, and with that, he knew how to take care of himself. His social life was part of his well being.

In other word he missed Dionysus. So he had called. A simple line over the phone telling him to meet at Styx. Not the most pleasant of places, he was sure, but it was casual and homely at best. The bar felt like it held pages of lost history and lost souls. What better place to try and feel reconnected with something lost ( ... )

His eyes had been so fixated on a young brunette in the crowd that he hadn't even noticed Apollo's slip into the seat in front of him. When he heard those words, and his sharp blue eyes glanced over he thought he saw a tinge of jealousy shoot through the blonde. Dionysus smirked in response, and a head tilt as he looked at Apollo through those thick layers of mascara ( ... )

Apollo only raised an eyebrow and made a snort of unapproved. Same jokes, only re-laced with different sarcasm. “I could say the same for you.” Apollo replied, hinting at the woman that Dionysus had been seeing so spastically.

He was observant enough to see that Dionysus was pleased in his own reactions to things. The jealousy, the slight detachment. Apollo mentally huffed. Of course, he did not appreciate Dionysus taking such pride in Apollo’s weaknesses. In turn, Apollo shielded himself, and made his face go casually calm.

“I came back from Troy two days ago. I wanted to know how you faired with me being a whole sea away.” Apollo shot back, tilting his head. If he got lies from Dionysus, the man wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Dionysus huffed a breath in annoyance, followed by his nose jutting into the air in that mocking stance. If Apollo was poking at the fling with Althaia then he was poking all the wrong ways. "Tsk, tsk, you should keep up with your gossip playboy," he said those blue eyes flashing a sharp glance. "That ended weeks ago." Well, to a degree. Her phonecalls however had not, and neither had been his will to tell her to shove off. Yet. But there was....someone of deeper interest that was clearly becoming hard to get out of his head.

Was he jealous himself? Of the time he'd been deprived of his friend? The chance to make fun, splash a few jokes and feel genuinely at ease with one another. True they always argued. They always made a point to prod at each other's weak points and tell the truth when the other clearly didn't want to hear it. Dionysus' heart was still slightly bruised on the fact that he always felt like Apollo wanted to change him. Yet, Eros had managed to do the same damage in a cleaver, more concise way. Dionysus was still ( ... )

“Sure you were.” Apollo sharply replied, knowing full well that Dionysus wasn’t telling everything that he wanted. It was when Dionysus got that self-directed look on his face that he knew that Dionysus was leaving a few details casually out ( ... )
