[Sasuke's voice is about back to healthy and normal now, however it is tight, controlled, and icy.]

Someone already brought this up, but here's a question I'm not seeing asked enough, not in the right context:

Why?

What does Vohemar have to gain by incriminating themselves?

Or how about "Who would gain by setting up the 4423?" Perhaps they're really ( Read more... )

just like home, thoughtful, poison in the water, doma, asking questions, genocide is familiar by now

Many would actually--people who just like to stir up trouble, people who don't like the way things are going between countries, or maybe people who just may have a vendetta against that particular ship.

Exactly. But what does a pirate ship gain by poisoning a town and not even looting it? I'm not saying they're innocent, they're pirates, but what do they gain?

It seems to me someone else gains more.

Y-You're the guy who replied to me, right?

...I guess I kind of got carried away. But I didn't know my difference engine was on. I really don't do well with things like this.

Yes.

You mean you're emotional. A lot of people are.

W-well, I know but... You didn't have to say anything to me...

No, I didn't. But you seemed upset.

And that ship certainly has nothing to gain by having everyone think they did it. Or even by doing it. Wiping out a trade town? When they're pirates? Now that just seems ass-backwards.

And not even looting it, unless the report just failed to mention it, which seems odd considering how otherwise detailed it was.

No, I don't think the pirates would have much to gain by the action, but I can think of a lot of others who might gain by blaming them.

One would think pirates would attack a town with, you know, a lot more burning and pillaging and stuff. Things they'd probably see fit to mention in an article like that.

Plenty of others. War mongerers, war profiteers; Ivona, as a whole; Your ship in particular.

Those were my thoughts. If they wanted to loot, they would have. If they wanted to become a terror to the world, they'd have stated their intentions.

But they didn't loot and there's been no statement from them regarding it. You wouldn't use a weapon like that openly without backing it up with threats. They didn't even hold the town hostage, which seems more profitable.

Exactly. I'm not saying it couldn't be the pirates, but they'd have to be insane. They don't have half the motive others might.

I doubt it was anyone on the ship. while there are those here eager to settle the score with the 4423... I don't think they had the means or would have stooped to those methods.

Ivona?

Coulda just been some sick fuck who killed everyone, and some tosser in the goverment is using it as an excuse to point the finger at Vohemar and start another stupid war.

Maybe. Could have been unintentional, or testing out Black NAT and pinning it on someone.

Or it could be neither country.

Whoever it was, I don't wanna see it happen again.

There are some who'd do it just for shits and giggles. Or it might even be an excuse by any government to build up military in order to 'get rid of the pirates'. A vendetta against that particular ship itself is also possible. Who knows~

But there's no proof, for any of it.

Something will show up eventually. This ain't the sort of thing you can keep under wraps for long.

Maybe. But on the other hand if the 4423 is successfully blamed, who would keep looking when the culprit is already "found"?
