This morning, I found out that the wonderful people at NOW! That's What I Call Music rereleased the absolutely adorable original "NOW! That's What I Call Music, which I first purchased in LP form at the record store at Aventura Mall circa December, 1983. I bought it for Duran Duran and Tracey Ullman, but it may've been the first time I heard The ( Read more... )

It's very likely that my votes are all based on the songs I just personally like, rather than what fits, EXCEPT "Distant Sun" because come ON Heidi you must use that.

...but the vid will then be about 90% Remus/Sirius!
(Then again, so was the last third of the film.)

1995 - Green Day - She. It was on Dookie, which was released in '94, but it was released as a single itself in '95, so it totally counts.

Also, it's weird how hard it is for me to choose between Oasis and Blur these days. Heh.

I am so impressed you got a Marriott room. My friend was trying to get three for Thursday - Monday and ended up with one at the Marriott for Thursday only. One at the Marriott for Friday through Monday, and two at the Hilton for Thursday through Monday, because after Marriott's system crashed and she spent two hours on the phone she said fuck it. It'll be the first time I haven't stayed in the Marriott. Be interesting to see how it changes the con for me.

I did the Sheraton in '08 and the Marriott in '09, and I found it a lot easier to be at the Marriott, but the Hilton is at least connected and has fun stuff going on - and the Trader Vic's, which I am definitely planning on coming over to at least one of the evenings!

See you there?

I don't think I know of Trader Vic's so I'll have to check it out. I think I've only ever been in the Hilton once, and that was my first year. It will be an adventure for sure.

And indubitably. I'll be running around, being ridiculous, available for harassment if you need any. ;)

Trader Vic's is this bizarre 50s-esque Polynesian-style restaurant/bar - they have things like Scorpion Bowls and loads of rum drinks, and Asian-ish food. It's adorable!

Isn't it bizarre just how much it is?

GAH, why did nobody cover Girlfriend In A Coma back in 1992?

My brother brought me cassettes of NTWICM home to Canada... and I loved it. Thanks for the info about the reissue!

Ah, I remember how those double-cassette packs looked SO cool (but didn't fit into any of my cassette holders). Off to see if I still have any of them....

Important question! Are you using the British NOW or the American NOW?

I've got my NOW 35 (UK) from sometime in late '96 sitting around here somewhere... it was much-loved and still has some of my favorite songs on it.

British NOW only. I'm not sure I was still collecting up to 35- I probably was, actually, buying them at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square near my office...
