Alabama has nice weather, which is one of the few things it has going for it. Although the hurricanes do hit here, we usually don't get the worst of 'em (and if you live inland enough, it doesn't really matter -- most of them will be dead by then). If you live toward the top of Alabama, you have a chance of snow but also a chance of tornadoes (I think). I think between Birmingham and Mobile are pretty good, weather-wise. I dunno how humid Texas usually is, though, so that might seem a big difference for a while. However, our temperatures this summer aren't any higher, while the rest of the country suffers from a heat-wave! HA.
...but beyond the weather, Alabama is a pretty lame place.
DC is where I want to live, but that is so I may see the historical sites whenever I want. New York and Massachusetts are two states I am considering if DC doesn't work out for some reason.
Just remember, no one likes New Hampshire man, Oregon is bad, and Iowa is a witch.
