Yeah. He said a lot of probably-not-very-legal things.

I mean, he got onto the topic because my Dad's side of the family was, and that's where my unusual-in-these-parts name came from. He seems to have missed the "Dad's side of the family" part, though, because when I called back today he said "you're the girl whose folks are Mennonite, right?"

I understand where he's coming from, at least with the reluctance to rent to younger people, but he's still being a dick about it seeing as you have references and steady, considerable income. And he's obviously never had kids, or never had to do their laundry. The amount of dirty laundry just one kid can generate all by himself is astounding.
He probably thinks a bunch of Mennonites would be all quiet and automatically not with the wild parties.
Is there anyone you can file a complaint with?

Not that I know of, and as far as I can tell, the only thing that he's said that's actually illegal is the Mennonite thing, which was a joke.

Quite possibly, no, we don't. But there aren't a lot of options for house rentals in the area we're looking for (w/in an hour of Albany, S or E or maybe N). If there are, we're having trouble finding them.
