Sweetie's fourth day with us

so the first three days he slept like a log during the daytime, in the most inaccessible part of the cage. but today he's lying out in the open and his nose is quivering, so he's not really asleep. could something be wrong? we reduced the heat but it didn't seem to work.

My hedgehog chills out during the day. Right now, she's drinking water and jamming her head in a paper towel tube.

He may just be hot or feeling comfortable enough to relax somewhere less protected, or randomly awake in the middle of the day. Sometimes if they are startled (like by someone coming into the room) they freeze where they are but don't ball up--it's a wait and see attitude, and eventually they'll either relax and carry on or decide to go hide.
