I'm sure she's fine, I'm just worried about the biting! It was so random! She was running all over me like "mommy mommy!" *CHOMP* She almost broke the skin. I just stared at her in shock, and she jumped off my leg and ran across the room.

I've had three hedgehogs total in the past and even the tamest of the three was still temperamental and unpredictable at times. I can't explain why she randomly decided to bite you, but I can say, it happens. Hedgehogs are bizarre creatures and their behavior is even more confusing than cats!

Unless she keeps doing it, I don't think you should worry too much. Just be careful until you know for sure it was a freak incident...hedgehog bites hurt!!

If she's being grumpier than usual, than yeah, definitely take her to the vet. I had a hedgehog who had mites once, and the first sign was she was acting insanely grumpy for no apparent reason and refused to calm down! Good luck with your hog. I'm sure she'll be okay. :)

I checked her for mites, but I will get the vet to check her too! My breeder showed me how to check her for mites and fleas, so I do it myself everytime I get paranoid ^^;

Thank you for the info on tempermental hedgies though! I am finding that Bella has a strange behaviour pattern. She's always been a bit grumpy. I'm hoping that there's nothing wrong, and that she was just angry at me for giving her a bath :P

I don't think she hates you. I don't know much about these animals, but considering they still retain a lot of their wilder instincts, it's not surprising. I had a sweet Westie, who, for no reason, took a bite out of my finger, drew blood, tasted it as if she enjoyed it, and then looked embarassed when I chastised her. These animals still retain a wild part of them and sometimes I think they bite when they are feeling excited. I am sure your little hedgie is just fine.

And my last comment wasn't supposed to be anonymous. Not sure why that happened.
