uh oh, how can you find out if they are legal in your state?

and i think a cat and a hedgehog can coexist peacefully... i think the first time a cat tried to mess with a hedgehog it would learn its lesson.

I just looked up hedgehogs+California on google, and found a government website with a list of all illegal pets in the state.

my cats run from my hedgehog. but I still keep the hedgie in his own cage - and they really haven't tried to mess with him yet - but he's also in the bedroom, which is closed off from the cats.

A lot of CA's exotic pet laws are a joke. They would only bust you with them if you were running a meth lab out of your aprtment simultaneously.
As for Hegehogs and Cats, they coexist like old catholic couples; they both silently acknowledge each other's presence, but peacefully resent each other.

i've read on the smartgroups message board that they are "illegal" in california, but that doesn't mean people don't have them. i read a post from a vet in cali who explained that he used the code word "hamPster" (P is for prickly, hehe) when doing charts and billing for hedgehogs he treated, to differentiate them from real hamsters.

neat! I wonder if my vet would be so good about it.

i've heard rumors of being able to search the web and find a list of underground vets that would treat animals like hedgies and ferrets.
