“I made you a new space sword.”
“How?”
She can’t help the smug grin that crosses her face. “Bare hands, Sokka,” she says, drawing out the first word for emphasis.
“You... Cold-forged it?” She hasn’t actually thought of it as anything but metalbending, but his name sounds cool, so she decides to stick with it ( ... )

Xian morosely dropped another ofuda strip into the fire, keenly aware of Wan’s mother’s eyes on him the whole time. With a grunt, a burly gravedigger earthbent a grave in the hillside. Nearby were half-a-dozen markers showing where other members of the Yun family rested.
He tossed the last prayer-covered ofuda into the fire, murmuring a sutra asking his friend’s spirit for forgiveness. As the paper was consumed by the flames, he stole a glance at the rest of Wan’s family out of the corner of his eye.
The expressions there ranged from aloof to accusatory. Xian knew that, as far as they were concerned, he was the reason that their eldest son was dead ( ... )
