Yesterday, my craving for Faturger fries got to be too much, so I drove to Buena Park to assuage the craving.

Dude. Those are good fries ( Read more... )

We have a very pleasant (okay, somewhat sketchy, but what do you expect?) Fatburger in WeHo. I'm just sayin'.

that list makes no sense to me. the entire san fernando and san gabriel valleys voted for prop 8? that's just not possible.

That's a really good question.

I admit, being a late arrival to California, my geography is a little shaky.

Is the San Fernando valley still considered, as far as municipalities go, part of the city of Los Angeles? Or did it get lumped in with the unincorporated pars of LA County, like, Wilmington, so we lost the specifics?

Here's the map from the Los Angeles Times that gives colors precinct by precinct.

Does this mean that cities are missing from this list? Looking back at that chart, I see I left Agoura Hills off (so I'll add that).

I'm not entirely sure looking at that map, but assuming that the line from Pasadena out toward Calabasas is 101/134 (The Ventura Freeway), that's the San Fernando Valley, and most of that is purple, which would match what I think of as how that area would vote. Those cities would be North Hollywood, Studio City, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Northridge, Van Nuys, etc. The further north into San Fernando you get (see San Fernando itself), the more likely you'd get people who would have voted yes. Pasadena is in the San Gabriel Valley, which is more conservative generally than San Fernando, but both valleys are part of Los Angeles County. So if Pasadena and Glendale are separate cities on that LA Times list, I can't figure out why North Hollywood isn't. Just makes no sense.

Huh. Yeah, those cities aren't listed at all on that other page, so maybe they just sampled some cities.

Which doesn't make much sense.

I suspect what that means is that it'll take more research to come up with the whole list. I'll edit the post above to make that clear. And then when I'm not up against work deadlines, I'll do more digging.

Thanks for the catch.

Yay Irvine! Since we live, like, a block away from Irvine, this is where I'm going to start saying I live there instead of (boo!) Tustin.
