With soft footsteps, Hector came to stand outside of Lacroix’s bedroom door, his arms full with a brand new blanket, still wrapped in its firm plastic sheath. This might have looked like an ordinary duvet from the outside packaging, but the fabric was weighted, twenty pounds heavy, a tool for those who experienced sleep issues like Lacroix so often ( Read more... )

Since there was only one other person who even lived on the same floor of the building as himself it was obvious who had left the blanket outside is door and while there was no doubt some logic to it he didn't know exactly right at the time what that was. But, none the less, when Lacroix abandoned his bed in the very late evening hours as he often he stared with sleep-dazed eyes for a full moment trying to make sense of the lump of fabric before gathering it up to carry it with him off to the other room ( ... )

Hector’s own schedule skewed late at times - having a vampire companion who could only talk at night made that a necessity. After some time spent in his own room, he wandered toward the kitchen with the intent to get a glass of water, but paused when he saw Lacroix resting on the couch. Escape was a habit he knew well; New York itself had been an escape from his life before and a risk...it was just what he did when life was overwhelming. But there wasn't much of that anymore because where could he go, what would he do ( ... )

Hector was soft when it came to Lacroix, and certainly didn’t judge him on any show of emotion, even if that emotion was inspired by the contents of a movie. Then again, those tears might not have been related to just the film; Hector knew Lacroix wasn’t well lately with his sleep health ( ... )
