Lesson learned

Before the memorial Club Pseudo on Saturday, I went through my old stuff, looking for mementos of Scott. I didn't find any. Not one single photo, note, ticket stub, old email message--not even a pithy quote. I was upset--how could I not have a single physical item connecting me to Scott's memory ( Read more... )

I tried explaining to poppins17 the other day about how Scott, even though I'd met him the once when he was back on break, pretty much helped me to the path I'm on today (professionally, at least).

He was like the root guru of the IMSA student admins, and one of the people who shaped the student involvement in the systems arena, and as I learned from many of his followers how UNIX worked and how to be an effective admin, I owe a good debt of gratitude to him for creating that path in life for me.

While I can't say I had enough of a connection to him to say that I miss him in any way, I can definitely say that his legacy will live on through the ages.
