Oh that's really good :D
Reminds me of the day I visit Leonardo's old house in France. It was a nice place, full of his works (near the castle of Francis Ie, how weird XD)

By the way, Belgium didn't really exist at the time - it was the Spanish Netherlands (or something like that - the province they got from Burgundy).

Well, it wasn't exactly weird--Francis gave him the house. XD

Oh, I know--I just use "Belgium" as her name to simplify matters a bit. Historically, the Low Countries were passed around quite a bit, but they were still known for being peace-keepers at that time.

1. France was a lover, Prussia was a fighter. The Holy Roman Empire was a conqueror, Austria was a ruler. Hungary was a warrior, Belgium was a diplomat. Spain was an explorer, England was a rebel. And Italy was an artist.

I love these lines. It really just summed up Europe at the time pretty perfectly.

2. I loved your use of da Vinci's "What a waste" phrase. I thought you utilized it well.

3. Kudos for showing Italy being known for his art without actually having Italy show up. I love that you wrote this through France's, an outsider looking in, perspective.

Thanks, dear!

Hearing all the AP Euro lectures a second time is giving me quite a bit of insight into the overall picture of the continent at the time--most of my fic ideas these days are coming from there.

I think the outsider's perspective felt natural because I usually think of myself as an outsider when it comes to art. As in, I enjoy looking at it but have no idea what it feels like to do it. :)
