Then I read:
The two brothers tried to shake hands, but were blocked by the strong iron of the fences that marked the Austro-Hungarian border. It had seemed easy enough to breach with potato-salad catapaults, but when two brothers wished for physical contact, it thwarted them.
And I could feel my heart break. I hate how you're able to intertwine so many emotions into such few words. Not really. I love it. I'm just in denial.
Thanks for teaching me (again) and making my emotions just go all over the place (again).
Off topic but I thought you might like to know that I actually wrote an Austria/Hungary drabble about a half hour ago. I never thought I'd ever write Austria/Hungary. It's your fault, you know.

Oh, and know that all of the fluffy stuff in this fic was for you, since I'm trying to balance my angst-angst-angst with happier stuff. &hearts
...[seven hours later] thank you for the comments, dear. You always make me so happy. :D

But that is perfect how you came across this event in your book. Coincidences like that are amazing :D
I'm posting them tomorrow later today. I stole that song meme from you (though I've actually been eyeing it for a few months, now) and did five of them since I was itching to write but nothing was coming. It's bedtime, though, so the other five will have to wait.

It amuses me that Gilbert and Roderich can still attempt to have a fight over the Iron Curtain.
Roderich glanced at Elizaveta and gave her a short nod. She grinned, and they both approached the wall from their respective sides, gripped the iron and pulling it apart inch by inch. Eventually, the breach grew big enough that when Ludwig extended his hand, Gilbert was able to grip it firmly; the two brothers shook.
I really liked the way you wrote this, especially the historical implications of how Roderich and Elizaveta helped them with the wall.

Also, this was such a good job. At the beginning I just wanted Gilbert to hug his brother, I almost yelled at the computer, but you're much better at keeping them all in character than that (but that kiss at the end, so cute!!)
