On uncollege and feeling old

The other evening, in a restaurant, the waitress called me Ma'am. It was as though I aged thirty years in an instant. Ma'am.

I was able to read this entry last night as I waited for Architecture in Helsinki to play, on my smartphone (e.g. iPhone), all the way over here in Portland, OR without means of a computer. Definite pro of the machine :-)

I wonder if the technological anxiety is much like... exploring a new city on your own? I remember my first day in Portland. On the light rail, I remember not knowing what I was looking for (my visitor's map given to me from the airport's visitor center did not label light rail station names on it), and I was concerned I was going out the free fare zone.

I think... you kind of learn limits by doing them, even if you are uncomfortable. The train announced, "this is the last stop of the free fare zone" and I got off and examined my map and kept going.
