“You don’t have to be afraid, Helena.”

The seven-year-old girl stared at her mother. The hood and goggles were off, but the costume she had on was identifiable even in the dark. “Don’t go, Momma.”

The door opened easily enough. He slipped inside, turned on the small monitor, then lay back on the makeshift bed to see if the news of his latest adventure had spread.

He screamed again, and again, the floor seemed to shake underneath them.

Huntress took a moment to regain her footing, feeling almost dazed, but she moved forward quickly, aiming a punch at his face.

The punch rocked him backwards, but he kept the grin. He grabbed for her arm. Suddenly, the air in the room grew thicker and closer.

Her eyes narrowed further as she twisted to try and free herself. Her breathing came heavily, and panic threatened to overwhelm her. She couldn't be sure what was going on... but she knew she had to keep her senses about her. She aimed a kick for his knee.

The kick knocked him off balance, forcing him to stagger back. "Get out," he hissed. "Get out or I'll really show you what I can do."

"What the hell are you?" she asked, taking a step back. She didn't flee, but... she also wasn't attacking just yet.

"I'm nothing you've ever seen before. I'm the oblivion that waits after fear." Claws snapped out of the tips of his glove. "You should go before I get hungry again."

"Very melodramatic," she muttered, eying him carefully. Those claws were certainly something to watch out for.

"Do you want me to finish this?" He opened his mouth to scream again.

"This isn't over. I won't allow you to keep killing," Huntress said, even as she took a step back. Retreat showed weakness, but until she could think-- until she could plan, this was just a suicide mission.

"They die," he grinned. "Everyone dies. I only make them afraid."

"Enjoy it while it lasts. It won't for very long," she hissed, stepping out the door quickly. She stepped back, off the worker's ledge, and she seemed to vanished.
