Adult Suethor Week: Conclusions

*dusts off hands* Well, there you have it, guys. An entire week of mocking Suefics by adult Suethors. How’d that work out for all of you? I'd be interested in hearing if you think the fics were a lot better, a lot worse, or neither.

Much scarier. The semi-competence makes them more glaring, like going to see an indie film of the fic rather than a home movie done by kids (does that metaphor work?). Also, one can hope the 13-year-old will grow out of it.

I'd also say that badfic by adult authors is worse. With teens you can always say: "They're young, they don't know what they're doing!" Not with adults. They should know better, having more life experience and/or having analysed movies in school (I assume they have; we had to do it three times...).

But well, obviously that doesn't cure them from writing shit. It just makes said shit more or less coherent, which is even worse. Your example is perfect for stressing that.

I haven't read all of the adult week fics yet, but I skimmed them. It's frightening. I need more time for that. You know, to rest after every other sentence.
