Continued: Birthing story (here be gruesome details- you have been warned!)

OK, let's see.... Yes, I was discharged from the hospital. I could barely crawl (and I mean crawl) out of the car and up the stairs. I went right into the shower, turned it on hot, and tried to lay in the tub under the water. But I was too big, and it was too painful. I ended up on all fours, my back to the spray and my face resting on the side of ( Read more... )

This has to be the best birth story I've ever read - I literally laughed out loud and got tears in my eyes at points.

She's beautiful, and I couldn't be more delighted that you and Carey are so happy.

Thanks, Robin. Your sympathy, both in feeling others' joy and pain, is just about unmatched in anyone I've ever met.

It's a blessing and a curse... but mostly the former since it allows me to feel a lot of joy when great things happen to people that are important to me (like you).

YAY!!!!!!! That's more pain than I've ever heard of with contractions! I also said "I can't I can't" and I even begged to stop and "try again tomorrow" - which must have really sounded ridiculous because in that moment, I was serious. I would almost fall asleep between pushes and two nurses pushed the top of my abdomen to keep me from losing the progress. All that stuff you think might be interesting like a mirror to see it come out or music or anything, holy shit is it the last thing on earth you can think about. Just please get this baby out of me!!!

You were amazingly strong!

Hahaha. YES to everything in this comment! My ”try again tomorrow” was, ” just cut me open and take it out!” My birthing playlists and aromatherapy oils were obviously untouched.

Welcome, Victoria. Nice work, mama. Your story made me smile and remember my time. I'm so jealous that you dilated so quickly. I labored at home for a crazy long time and still had to sit around dilating with an epidural dangling outta my spine.

Congrats on bf success. I am still nursing and while it often feels a chore, it is such a sweet and special bond. I've also nursed us out of a lot of tough spots. It's really like special baby magic or something.

Thanks so much! Nothing about that process felt quick, but I know what you mean. I just wish I had known I was in labor-I think that would've made the pain more bearable. And I know exactly what you mean about magic milk. Carey and I joke that I have rooffies in mine.

Haha. I wish I'd known my water was breaking when it was breaking. I thought I was just taking the world's biggest pee! I ended up laboring at home for like 8 hours post water break and still the dilation took it's precious time. Oh human body! I shake my fist at you!

Have fun. Sleep when you can! Congrats again. Being a mom is hard work but so happy-making!
