Random things wot make me to smile:

+ The fact that I just finished giving a presentation at work and it is now behind me. Whew. I only have to do it like twice a year, but meeep.

+ Star Trek stills. I am the shallowest of shallow fans, because I never really watched Star Trek beyond a handful of the original eps, TNG, and a bit of Voyager. But I am ( Read more... )

Agreed. I never really liked Star Trek, but that trailer is just-- ooohhh pretty boys.

I share your squee for Star Trek. I'm a big Trekkie, or WAS, I dunno. I stopped after Voyager and never got into the last one they did. But this movie, GUH, looks so fantastic.

+ The fact that I just downloaded a pdf file of an article for work and read it on my iphone, wtf I love technology.
I honestly want everything I read, listen to, and watch to be downloadable to my iPod. It would be so awesome. <3

The trailer is kickass, even if the movie sucks they did a great job roping me in, is all I can say. :P

Seriously, I love it! I'm going to do a rec list of my favorite apps. I love being able to read anything, anywhere.

Starfleet houndstooth?! As a costumer, I am so upset I don't know where to start (except that it looks damned awesome! *cries* )

Haha! The houndstooth print IS interesting, innit.

I guess it'd be harder to buy material for? Do you make your own costumes?

Yus, I make from scratch. Since it's probably a bespoke material, it's totally impossible, unless you bespoke it too. And then you have to order a certain amount before they'll even consider printing it for you T_T

I didn't know he was in it until today, either! Nom indeed. ;) I'm also nomming John Cho.

Re: the math thing, I can understand that. *hugs you* The reason why I thought it was an interesting post is because I didn't think the OP was focusing on skills on an individual level and what we should or shouldn't be able to do, so much as what it says about our society that makes it okay for women to offhandedly make jokes about themselves not being able to do math (or read maps or what have you, because I hear that one a lot too); or to giggle away or downplay our intelligence in general. It's something I saw throughout school and still see from time to time, and I think it doesn't help that many of us internalize that message.

I'm incredibly shallow too. I've never been into Star Trek, but the boys are just so pretty, I've no choice but to make an exception.

It's okay! Shallowness is always welcome in this journal. ;)
