[For MJ & Pete] Jailbreak, Pt. 2

Feb 06, 2010 02:02

Johnny had been called selfish more times than he could count by more people than he could count, but this was, at least, one time where no one could really accuse him of it. He was pretty sure getting the invalid out of the clinic for the first time in a month was considered a charitable act (and something a friend would do anyway), and Pete was ( Read more... )

For a brief moment, Mary Jane had absolutely panicked when she'd returned from showering to find Peter's bed empty. A month into his clinic stay, she was far past expecting the worst to happen, but that didn't mean there weren't plenty of other bad things his absence could have meant. Finding Johnny's note, then, had been an absolute relief - for all of a few seconds, after which anything else she might've felt was quickly cast aside, how utterly pissed off she was overwhelming everything else ( ... )

I don't need my spider-sense to know that Hell hath no fury like an MJ scorned. One second Johnny and I are flying high on life, and the next he's pulling a mom arm to stop me from falling at the feet of my gorgeous -- if incredibly angry looking -- girlfriend.

Ah, overwhelming feeling of dread. How I've missed you. I knew I should've proofed that note.

"Mary Jane, wait," I start, holding up a hand. Despite Johnny's assurances that he can handle irate women, I don't have it in me to let him get chewed out without trying for at least a little bit of intervention on his behalf. "Go easy on the guy, wouldja? He was just trying to help."

"I left a note," was Johnny's immediate reply, but between MJ yelling and Pete's lame attempt to help him out, he managed to gather his thoughts. "We just went out for a stroll, like the note said. Honestly, MJ, nothing happened. I mean, other than Pete seeing the sun for the first time in a month, nothing happened."

"Right, because the sun wouldn't have been there if you'd waited five minutes to tell me in person," Mary Jane snapped, scoffing. She had spent the past month feeling guilty for a lot of things, but being upset over this was not going to be one of them, nor was Peter's having been in the clinic for so long when she'd done all she could to make it as easy for him as possible. Intentionally ignoring Pete's protests - she was angry enough already, and trying to at least cut him a little slack - she tossed said note at Johnny, not caring how petulant a gesture it was. "I got your stupid note, thanks. Nice to know I was worth the ten seconds it probably took you to write it before you kidnapped my freaking boyfriend, after I've spent weeks at his side."
