02 - Kat and Wisdom (current)

He'd been around the compound. It wasn't as though he needed to meet and greet every person on the team; Wisdom knew what he was doing most of the time. He hadn't seen as much of Kat as he'd expected, since the whole 'dormitories being divided by sex' thing had been omitted from the Weapon X brochure ( Read more... )

Kat had noticed that Wisdom seemed to be avoiding her but she hadn't called him out on it. He'd just gotten here, was settling in, and no doubt had some reason why he'd changed from the relative comfort of Black Air to the Weapon X project. Besides, she'd spent most of her time in the past three weeks curled up in bed, drugged under with pain medication.

She also knew that if she'd called him out on it, she would have just pissed him off. She didn't want to admit it to herself, but she was just glad that he was here instead of in Britain or Turkey or New Zealand. She glanced up at the knock on her door and she closed her laptop, setting it to the side as she stood up.

"Just a sec." she murmured, taking a deep breath as she stepped to the door, cracking it open just a hair.

"Hey." Giving a half smile, she opened the door and turned on her heel, moving back into the room.

He quirked a brow at the half-hearted welcome, but then figured he deserved it. He'd been neglecting her fairly well. Still, that didn't mean he was going to let it slide. He moved into the room, a carbon copy of the one he had, and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"I'd hoped for more of a hello than that, Kitten." He sat down on the edge of her bed, smiling at her. "How are you feeling?" His hand slid across her side, feeling that the bandages were gone. "Better?"

Kat's arm slid around his waist, her hand flattening at his lower back as he kissed her forehead. Flashing him a brief smile, she winced and gave her head a half shake. "Sorry. I didn't know if you were mad at me or just in a bad mood or what. I wanted to give you your space." she said, sighing as she stepped closer to him.

She felt herself tense a little as he moved his hand over her left side before she laughed. At least she was still ticklish. Reaching down, she peeled up the edge of her shirt and nodded, exposing the pink scar. "Yeah, it feels a lot better. Nice scar, though? People aren't going to believe I can phase through things if they see this."

He pulled Kat into him, her stomach at eye level since she was still standing. Pete inspected the spot at her side, smirking up at her. "Oh yeah?" He pushed the fabric up a little higher with his fingertips, pressing his lips to her skin near the spot.

"I'm sure you'll be able to convince them." He smiled against her skin, his hands resting on her hips as he looked up at her. "Anything interesting going on?"
