I have never wanted children. They frighten me, and they're too much pressure, and I'm not the biggest fan of "family" in general, as an idea built-in-blood with no free will or qualifications that must be met or clauses that must be maintained, no necessary reciprocation, like "we're related so we're family so you treat me special no matter how terrible I am, got it?" and "we share some DNA so you are required to love me, no I don't have to earn it, no I don't have to act like I love you back."

I loved this. I also really love how it's not just about the baby - it's about how it was supposed to be, that little dream world Sam had for himself, Jess and Dean. It was perfect and comfortable and normal - and now he's broken and their family is big and it's just not the PERFECT ending he was hoping for.
