What exactly do you need? I guess what I'm asking is what is a Beta? What 'help' do they give? I have a great eye for inconsistencies...non sequiturs...etc.

Mostly betas just catch typos or the wrong named used or grammar errors that are glaring. More detailed betas will help you with your plot and stuff (total handholding, basically) but I've only needed one of those once before. I don't really have many plot holes most of the time since I take good notes, but I have caught myself saying 'two months' in one spot and 'three months' in another and things like that. My biggest problem is how you'll be typing and if you spell something close to the word, it will autocorrect to something else and when IM reading it, I KNOW what it's meant to say so I dont even notice it's wrong. Every once in a while I'll have a sentance fragment because I got clause happy and never finished it, but for the most part, just spelling errors is my problem.

I'm an English Major, but even English Majors miss things, lol.

I would be perfect for that! One of my pet peeves is bad spelling. And I'm pretty good at it! Give me a try and keep looking for an experienced Beta. And BTW-sentence is spelled like that, not sentance lol!Just showing off...;)And you meant 'the wrong name' not named...JS

Actually no, I'm shit at spelling simple words. I can spell these big ass SAT-words with no problem but you give me the word 'business' and I honestly have no idea if that's the right way of spelling it or not. It's ridiculous! Thank GOD for squiggly red underlines when writing essays is all I can say, lol.

I've always loved to do the beta things, but I've never tried before. but since I can only read Adommy when it comes to fiction so I think I can do it :)
