I have a suggestion:-

Goodbye Lenin- set in Germany after the fall of the Berlin wall, basically this lady from EAst Germany is in a coma and very pro communism. When she wakes up her family is told she must not experience any shocks, so they recreate East Germany for her. It's an interesting look at East German culture, for example at one point she looks out a window and sees a coca cola ad. And her reaction to that is quite interesting.

Sounds like a tough thing to chose. Would you share the list with us? Someone on here may have seen one and it may not be as bad as it sounds!

Also, does the culture have to be an "earth" culture? If not, there are countless films set in space that you could go for. :-)

Thanks :)

I see Goodbye Lenin is on the list, ha!

Well, if joy luck club is anything like the book it should be quite good.

Last emperor was quite good, ifits the same one I think it is. Is this the one that one a couple of awards? I own three Chinese films with that name lol.

Witness wasnt too bad. Think that's the one my mother made me watch cos she likes one of the actors...

Bride and prejudice is quite fun.

I really didn't like my life as a dog, might just be personal but it was a bit...well, odd.

Schindlers list, while a highly thought of film is just really upsetting.

Ok, I think that's all I have to say. Best of luck whichever film you choose!

I personally think Mi Familia is hilarious
I have never seen Kite Runner. I want to read the book first.

There is a super good one that I watched a couple years ago, why can't I remember the name. Thank you google! It's called Amreeka and should be on Netflix, at least it was years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amreeka

I wonder if Blood Diamond would count.

good luck

Idk if Blood Diamond is accurate. But I'd be interested, that looked great. I"m also really interested in maybe possibly doing Hotel Rwanda but I feel that is less of a communications based film, since it's mostly about violence between culture conflicts, not communications.

Hotel Rwanda
I seriously can't watch that movie without getting super upset (and of course the first time I saw it was in 10th grade history class uber embarrassing)

Oh God, I borrowed it from a friend in high school and it RUINED me. It's an amazing film but JESUS talk about upsetting. I think I almost threw up after watching that movie, I was so messed up.
