It has been quite some time since I
asked Sophie to have dinner with me but there is no way I could have known I'd go home in that time. I'm back and she still wishes to go. Finally we are. I am pleased and slightly terrified at the same time.
The temptation to wear the colours of Gondor, or close enough, with black trousers and a white shirt has been beaten down. Instead I wear the tan, which are more appropriate for summer anyway, and the blue silk shirt that I've worn so few times. It is no fault of the shirt that I was wearing it that day, and it has come clean--in less time than I have.
Right now I am on my way to Sophie's, hoping beyond hope that the restaurant is somewhere we can eat. I would prefer that to the cafe though at least we have that if anything goes wrong.
I'm a few minutes early and debate just waiting, decide that's foolish and take a deep breath. Then I knock on her door.
Eru help us all, Captain Clueless is giving it a try.
