There were delays in the operetta. Considering that I don't work in the summer, it means very little to me. I do need to get to the Ribbon, but I don't need to think of that right now.

No, I'm playing the king of the gods when we have two gods in the production. Now isn't the time to thank Aphrodite for my situation with Glaurnaneth, regardless of whether or not she had anything to do with it. I've never thanked Ares for my skills at war either. I don't value those as much... Shouldn't single either of them out here.

There's that amusing part where my character only likes boring dances. I feel like I'm in one of the modern clubs and everyone is looking at me, although it is sort of funny. I've learned of the fame of the 'can-can' and there's even a musical play with that title. I haven't seen it but I should. Some time soon. I give Yuri a smile and return to my breathing. The singing part of performing is much more difficult for me than speaking.

XxXYuri thought that poor Faramir was looking kind of stressed. The gods didn't bother ( ... )

The Dragon wears the dress he'd bought for her for Valentine's Day. Oddly enough, many of the words of this particular opera were familiar to her, having come from the Germanic coastline.

But while she wasn't certain of many things, she was proud of Faramir's part in this work. She waited hesitantly in the after-party's chamber until she sees him. She glows (only metaphorically speaking) on his approach. "Well done, Minmir," she congratulates him warmly.

I knew that Glaurnaneth would be here. Really, how would she not be? It's just seeing her in that dress... I've seen her wear it before and, somehow, it's sexier to me than seeing her wearing nothing. I don't think I've really even thought the word 'sexy' before, but it's a modern word that very much fits. I must also note that I'm not the only one looking at her. I don't think it's just the gold and her tail either.

"Thank you so much." I'm smiling probably too widely. "I was very nervous before, but I think that helped in the end."

I've heard that it does. I approach and speak softly.

"I've been wondering for a while if I shouldn't say something to the Lady Aphrodite about you--how thankful I am." Even though I know she did not return Glaurnaneth to the village.

Glaurnaneth (as usual) sublimely ignores the looks she gathers from the others around her. For one, she's used to it and for the second she believes it's simply the same 'omg it isn't human!' watchfulness she always gets. Well, that's what she presumes they're thinking and not 'omg, it's naked!' Even when she isn't naked.

Glaurnaneth blinks at his thought. "Why would you?" Gods and goddesses, in her experience, tended to view her much like humans do.

She slips her tail around behind him in her usual embrace.

It wasn't the first time that Ares had been on a 'stage' but it was the first time he'd been in a play (that hadn't been connected to the Muses). Ares was surprised with how much he'd actually enjoyed it and rather than disappear after the performance he'd stayed for the after celebration.

"I still don't see why I had to go by Venus." Aphrodite appeared next to him in a flurry of golden sparkles and sighed dramatically.

"Because playwrights and scholars are used to small words, like Mars and Venus." He smirked, "writing Aphrodite with so many syllables was hard for them to understand." It was his small dig at Gabrielle even though she wasn't there, it still felt good.

She laughed. "I'm just glad Caesar isn't here to watch the show. He already has too big of a head." Aphrodite rolled her eyes.

It didn't surprise Catherine that the show was a success, she'd had faith in Clay to keep Ares and Aphrodite in line as much as the mortals. Mainly she had faith in Clay.

She smiled with two flutes of champagne, handing him one. "Congratulations once again on a wonderful production."

Just the woman I hoped to bump into, as my widening smile probably states pretty clearly.

"Thank you." I accept the glass and lean in for a quick kiss. "Also for your help."

Then I take a step back and look at her properly. "You look lovely." As always.

Cat did a small bow of her head at the compliment. "Thank you, you look quite handsome yourself." She slipped her free hand out to reach for his and twine their fingers together.

"Well, I have to keep to a certain standard if I don't want to fade into oblivion beside two gods on my stage."

I squeeze her fingers lightly, then rub my thumb over her hand.

Riley was bored, though only someone who was observant could tell. Opera was not really his thing, though he did appreciate having something to see for two hours. Now that the show was over though, he was back to standing and observing.

He looked smart in his tuxedo, but without Buffy on his arms it felt like a uniform. Why he had been hired by his client to escort him and his wife to the opera, Riley didn't know. It wasn't like there were a lot of dangerous people in the village - at least that they knew about. It seemed to Riley that the client just wanted people to see they could afford security. Which was why he continued to stand near a wall that had a great view of all the exits and watch... though he was certain this was a waste of time. At least he was getting paid.
