And in this corner, weighing 16 stone... (OTA who wants to fight him)

(ooc: The fight with Martin comes first, all others happen after that)

Khan had felt no small amount of aggression earlier in the day. Fortunately his self-control was such that it had been safely vented on paper targets long since shredded. Or at least he felt he'd safely vented it. The shopkeepers may have felt differently, or perhaps their own ( Read more... )

Am tagging here but leaving his post up. It took too long for me to be able to post for him and I don't want to remove all my efforts. For some reason, your post didn't show up until after I had posted mine. Go fig.

Annatar had not dressed in his usual fine attire, choosing only shirt, trousers, and boots. Yes, they were expensive-looking and well made, but not his usual silk doublets. He wasn't wearing any jewelry at all.

He just couldn't decide what to do with himself. He'd woken (!) feeling not right with anything and that Man walking down the street looked entirely too self-satisfied for his own good. Sad, pathetic human.

The hand from the back of Khan's neck moved to cuff the man's head. Not a hard blow, but a light swat for a naughty child. Then he backed away faster than most could see, just a few feet.

Mortal.

Annatar was smiling.

As Annatar displaced himself that extra distance away, Khan paused his continued (and, he was able to admit to himself) ineffectual attacks.

He thought back to when he last landed on Earth on his own initiative. How it was later determined that he'd been responsible for nearly two hundred thousand deaths in one minute. In the name of revenge.

Do not ever invade my mind again.

So the man was a killer.

I'll invade it whenever I please.

Annatar sent forth images from the Nirnaeth Arnoediad*. The battlefield was littered with bodies of Men and Elves, as well as orcs and other dark creatures from Morgoth's army. Still, it had been a rout against the Dark Lord's enemies.

That was one of so many. It happened three thousand years ago, mortal.

He hadn't been in command, Morgoth had. There was no need to let Khan know that.

"The wonders of technology and knowledge," Khan remarked as he stepped back a couple of paces.

I can do in moments what took you all day. And if you choose to do this again, I will.

Khan's body-language radiated (deceptively) calm.

Annatar knew better, but chose to speak aloud for his own reasons.

"How callous and impersonal is your destruction. So cold." His tone was teasing. "Are you going to destroy the village if I annoy you? I'm not actually causing any harm."

Yet.

"If that is what is required to keep you out of my head, then yes, I will escalate to that level." Khan thought (briefly) about the transporter pod that was almost ready to let him leave the village.

"With yourself in it?" Annatar did not think that Khan was all that intelligent. Nor did he have self-control, if he was willing to destroy the village out of petulance.

"If I'm to the point of needing to destroy the village for revenge, it will have gone past the point where I would reasonably expect to survive even without my doing so," Khan replied.

Annatar looked at Khan through lidded eyes, then quickly moved to slap him and end up behind the man.

"You'd destroy the village for no reason other than my talking to you without words? You're pathetic."

This time, Khan was ready. He flowed out of the way and spun to face Annatar, a couple of paces further than they'd been before the elf had made his move.

"You act like a godling out of the old Greek poems and I am the pathetic one?" Khan asked, his voice still unruffled.

But to clarify, I would destroy the village to defend myself. You know what is required to prevent that possibility ... do nothing. Continue your poor manners and see what happens.

Annatar hadn't really read many of the old poems. Most of what he knew about the gods was from speaking with them.

"Compared with you I am a god. You're just a little mortal who's above himself." So what if Khan was above other mortals? That was like being the king of the worms.

Khan had had enough. "No, compared to me you are a sad little bully-boy straight out of the playground."

"I temper myself to be more equal to those I'm dealing with." He did want to kill, but it wasn't safe to do it in the village when he couldn't leave. "You couldn't survive if I were to be truly creative."

"No, you don't. You tell yourself you do."

To the last statement, Khan merely gave Annatar a small 'I know something you don't know' smile, then turned to walk away.

Annatar knew a lot that Khan didn't know. He wanted to hurt the little man badly. Really, who would believe him if Annatar decided to be a little more Sauron today? Hanging Khan from a banner and parading him around the village was a bit obvious. So was hanging him by the wrist from anything solid. Not that those were creative--they'd been done.

"You'll see a true bully soon." Annatar had only seen Ungoliant's shadow, so the figment would have to be Shelob. After a while of seeing her out of the side of his vision, Khan would likely be a bit paranoid. She'd disappear when he looked fully.
