Awakening (ota, gentle tag to Castiel)

Sep 14, 2014 22:11

Anna's head ached like she had drank a marathon's worth of alcohol as she slowly came to consciousness in the clinic room. Her eyes squinted before they very slowly opened to the bright lights of the room. Everything felt stiff and unused and for a moment she was disoriented. What was the last thing she remembered? Where was she? Nothing seemed to ( Read more... )

Cas had made the decision to stay with Anna while she was here in the clinic. How she would react to that once she was awake- or even how Meg (or anyone else) might react to Cas wanting to take care of Anna... well, that would all be dealt with in time.

He had left Bernie with some NPC employees of his, promising the dog that everything would be just fine and that he'd be back for him soon. The only time he left the room was to go see the new Winchester child in the nursery, and even then his ears were wide open.

Cas was sitting in a chair in Anna's room, and he had some reading material with him, which he was going through at the moment, but as soon as he heard a sound he sat up and looked over at Anna- he did a double-take at first. Was she really, finally, waking up? It'd been long enough. Over a month.

"Anna-?" Castiel spoke, rushing to her side.

Castiel's voice was familiar, but it took her a second to place it. Anna tried to steady herself in the semi-upright position she was currently in, propped up by her elbow. It was taking a lot of effort and finally she gave in and let her back sink against the mattress again.

She blinked, then squinted in his direction before her eyes seemed to truly adjust and she saw him. Anna had to work at getting her mouth moist enough to talk. It took her a moment to make a sound. "Cas..."

"Shh, don't over-exert yourself." He grabbed a cup and filled it with a little water, fumbling a bit as he moved it closer to her mouth.

"Here, drink. You're okay? I was worried that maybe I messed things up again..."

The water was almost hard to swallow at first, but then it went down. She could feel the liquid reach down into her and Anna let herself relax for a moment.

Anna nodded. "I think so..." She felt like herself, though she felt weak too at the moment.

She frowned softly.

John's granddaughter was home from the clinic with Faith, Dean and Ed but he'd stopped by for a follow up appointment for his dislocated shoulder. As he was leaving, he happened to catch sight of Anna out of the corner of his eye and paused in the doorway. He hadn't realized that she'd been there and stepped inside with a look of concern.

She sunk back down and decided to give her head a moment to settle. When she opened them again, she was aware of someone else in the room. Turning her head, Anna saw John.

Anna went to speak, but found her voice was dry so she had to swallow a few rough times before she could actually do so. "John."

John moved closer to the bed, so Anna wouldn't have to strain to see him or speak. "I didn't realize that you were here." He handed her the Styrofoam cup with ice that was always bedside in hospitals.

"Me either." Anna attempted a joke as she took some ice and put it in her mouth. The cold was nice, but the moisture was heavenly. "Everyone okay?"

Anna asked because John was here.
