Arrival - Open

Jul 28, 2014 13:19

There were so many things that had been ‘off’ about the Fourth of July celebration, not the least of which was Ingrid’s boss’ death. She’d tried to get information from Tommy but that hadn’t gone well. She’d have to snoop later about that one. Then there was her nephew. She didn’t care what Joanna thought, there was something off about Frederick. ( Read more... )

It still took a bit of getting used to when you saw someone just instantly appear. Riley blinked and then took a step forward. He was in civilian clothes today as he wasn't working.

"Uh, hi." He offered a semi-awkward smile and lifted his hand in a stationary wave as he approached slowly.

"You." Wendy pointed at Riley, "what the hell is going on?" At least the welcome wagon wherever here was, was nice looking. She moved closer. "Are you connected to Frederick?" She didn't feel power off of him, but that didn't mean anything. She definitely felt power where she was.

It was a bit of a surprise the woman was so direct. Usually the new arrivals were a bit more stunned.

"No, no I'm not connected to any Frederick." He shook his head as he rubbed the back of his neck. "And this place is called Haurvatat. It's going to sound completely impossible, but this is actually a separate place other than Earth. Like an alternate dimension type thing."

"What? Like another portal?" That would explain the power that she felt but not the why. "Are you saying this is another dimension?"

Kamekona had a box of his shrimp and he was heading home for the day when he noticed the woman standing there looking confused. He decided to approach.

"Howzit, pretty lady?"

Wendy spun around at the new voice and paused as she looked at Kamekona. Okay that wasn't something you saw in East End but it was something you saw in Hawaii, California and New Orleans. Her old stomping grounds. Her confusion didn't fade but the tenseness in her shoulders did. If this was connected to her father or Frederick, they wouldn't have sent a sumo wrestler. At least she assumed that was what he was. He had the look of one.

"I don't know, you tell me. Where's here?"

"Ah, so you're new, huh?" He nodded and then sent her a knowing smile somewhere between 'hey' and 'what's up, girl?' He didn't get to be the welcome wagon often.

"This place is called Haurvatat. Not a place on Earth, though, so don't worry if you've never heard of it. It's like some place from a freaky sci-fi tv show, you know?"

Since her life was a freaky sci-fi show that made sense that she'd end up in a place like that.

"Not on Earth huh? Sounds like another portal, which makes sense I suppose. My nephew was trying to get rid of me." Jackass. "So how do we get back out of here." So she could kick his ass.
