Little Dragon? Hello? (OTA)

Glaurnaneth had been flying over the village. Not a common sight, but little children no longer run indoors when she passes overhead.

While she'd been flying, she spotted a Raptorex.

Curious, she stooped at it, nearly killing the thing in terror when she'd caught it.

Now she holds it pinned down in her (still draconic) hand and rumbles at it. ( Read more... )

It's not as shocking as it once was to see Glaurnaneth in her dragon form: I'm getting used to it. I just don't expect to see her with a... whatever that is. Perhaps a deer, but that would be food. This animal is fairly large, though not compared with her. It sort of looks familiar. Familiar-ish?

"Glaurnaneth?" I have spoken before coming too close. "What have you there?"

It does look like something I've seen before.

"That's not a little dragon with no wings, is it?" It seems too clumsy for that.

The Dragon turns her head to Faramir as he speaks, and while it may seem her attention is drawn away from the dino in-hand, she is as acutely aware of its movements and thrashings as if she were staring at it still.

"I do not know," she says. The rex tries worrying at her hand with its teeth to escape by biting the capturing limb. "STOP THAT," she says firmly to the little thing... which stills at the quality of the roar.

In her 'normal' dragon-form speech level, she says to Faramir, "It does not speak Dragonish. It may be too young to speak."

"Perhaps so."

I stare at the creature. Its skin is not at all like Glaurnaneth's, even not being gold. It reminds me of...

"Not dragon," I say. "I mean, it isn't a dragon. I've seen creatures like that before."

On the island, only they were bigger.

"People call them dinosaurs. We don't have them in Middle-earth. I thought that they were larger than that, so perhaps it is young."

Glaurnaneth looks do the little one in her grasp, then nods. "It is not a dragon."

She looks to Faramir suddenly. "May I eat it?"
