Up the street from the building whose alarm had drawn Alice's attention, Khan leaned against a wall in the shadows.

He watched, as still as a great cat... but a breeze ruffled his long coat enough for the material to flap softly in the otherwise quiet night.

She heard the noise first as she surveyed the outside of the building and seemlessly, though no more quickly, did her eyes move from the side of the building to the man standing in the darkness. She can make out a person there, but not much detail. That's not suspicious at all.

Khan continued to watch her, remaining as personally still as the errant zephyr would allow. He wasn't sure if she'd spotted him or not yet... but finding that out would be useful.

Alice let her eyes go back to the building as she walked up closer in the person's direction under the guise she was looking to go around the building on the other side. However, she stopped before she entered the alleyway.

"Either you're a dumb thief who's decided to stick around after his crime, or you just prefer not to be seen." She spoke first, then Alice turned around to face the shadow again. The figure was a bit clearer this time and she was pretty sure it was a man standing there.
