Kamekona was enjoying the thawed out weather. It wasn't the best weather, but at least it wasn't snowing and it wasn't cold. Winter sucked - Hawaii had the right idea. No winter, just sun all the time

Max stood in place, anyone looking would think he was a stalker, he was just watching Liz. Okay sure that sounded like a stalker, but he wasn't.
He took his small basket of shrimp and tobacco sauce over in her direction. "Hey." Max said softly and motioned toward the empty seat opposite her. "Mind if I sit?"
“You mean?” Max pointed a finger toward the sky and shook his head as he lowered it. “No. Even someone I met here who was from the future and another galaxy I didn’t tell.” Though they probably guessed when he asked about his planet.
“Did you know that there is an AI here?” Max wouldn’t have classified Kilrenko as that but he didn’t really know what else to call her. Little did he know that there was more than one.
He nodded, "yeah she said she was a cyborg from the future." Max smiled slightly, "I didn't believe her at first but then I didn't believe I was in a pocket dimension either."
"Wow. I don't even think I can imagine what that would look like... Which I guess is kind of funny knowing what my life is like normally." Liz smiled with a bit of humour in her eyes.
"But I'm glad you did." She looked at him with a warm smile. It took a moment for Liz to realize what she was doing and suddenly she felt awkward.
Her gaze faltered and her smile turned into something more awkward and apologetic as she glanced down and picked at the small individual pieces of rice that were left.
Max sighed inwardly when her smile went from genuine to awkward. He'd got over her and Kyle - mostly.
"Liz." He said quietly and steadily, "back home we're friends. We both agreed that we wanted to start over and start with being friends." It still hurt sometimes to think about her and Kyle. He'd asked her the question and she'd answered. Max might not like the answer but it was what it was.
He smiled slightly, "and yeah the shrimp is really good, especially if you put Tabasco on it."
Liz wanted to tell Max she didn't want to be friends. She loved him and wanted to reach over and kiss him and hug him and tell him all the things she had been keeping inside. She hadn't slept with Kyle and she didn't want to sleep with anyone other than him. She wanted - Liz nodded and pushed away the loud thoughts in her brain.
"Next time I'll have to try it with Tabasco. But you are a little biased." She sent him a small smile back.

Friends. Even if it hurt inside.
