And Then There Was One - and George (open)

She spent too much time alone. She knew this, both intellectually and as an awareness in her gut. The knowledge didn't inspire her to make any changes though, she was used to a mostly solitary life, having spent most of her life in some form of prison or another ( Read more... )

Speaking of psychopaths with a singular goal ....

Frank tiptoed into the cafe, his cape wrapped around his shoulders, looking for all the world like an old time villian minus the the moustache. He didn't see Draco and so far, whatever was going on in his mind wasn't being triggered. He wanted tea! Just a cup of tea.

He didn't need the mustache, River noticed him when he entered, if only because she liked the cape. Jodhpurs were more her thing, but you could hardly go wrong with a cape. Her eyes tracked the cape wearer to the counter.

Stage-whispering, Frank told the clerk, "tea. Earl Grey. And a scone."

Really, he was a simple man.

Yes, his whole demeanor and attire screamed 'simple'.

"I approve of your choice," she called. Not that she thought he needed her approval.

Khan walked into the cafe, his chilly eyes sweeping over everyone and everything within. As he pauses in the doorway, he sweeps his left arm in a semicircle, the arm pointing at every person in the restaurant briefly.

Observant player-characters persons might have noticed a small device hidden in the sleeve of his overcoat.

His survey of those within complete, Khan moved to the counter. "Asaam, in a pot. And a bacon-lettuce-tomato sandwich on sourdough."

River had always been observant, but she noticed the way one might notice something and file it away because it didn't seem to effect her. At the moment.

That said, it was possible his device (depending on what data it was gathering) would pick up on the fact that at least one of the people in the cafe wasn't quite human.

As Khan wasn't terribly concerned with what a person was from, being rather more concerned with where they were from, all it noted was that River was not from the village originally.

Khan picked an adjacent table to River's. "Greetings," he said to her as he waited for his order to be called out as ready. "You're not from around here."

"That's a monumental understatement," she flipped the journal closed and chuckled as she looked over at the man.

"But then I'm not really from anywhere."

Jack didn't ask to sit, cup of coffee in hand (they'd never make it as well as Ianto had), he just sat turning the seat around with his coat swaying behind him in a flourish of bravado.

"Writing anything good?" From that expression on her face, Jack was thinking not.

She smiled, "Well it isn't Shakespeare."

She sipped her tea and gave him an assessing look.

"It's instructions. In case you and Martha need to put me down."

"Not nearly as entertaining as Shakespeare..." Even the tragedies. Jack's expression steeled, putting up the soldier front. It was easier. "Are you thinking that we might be needing to carry out those instructions any time soon?"

"Shakespeare wasn't even as entertaining as Shakespeare." River told him with a half smile.

"Though he certainly thought he was." She flipped the journal closed and picked up her tea. "I'm hoping it won't be necessary at all, but... he's not here to keep me on the straight and narrow so to speak."
