It was the sweet smell of something that Sherlock didn't recognize that had him switching directions and making a bee line (no pun intended) toward Kili. He didn't mince words or bother with a greeting either. It wasn't out of rudeness though that was usually a possibility with Sherlock, it was out of mindset curiosity.

"What is that aroma?"

Blink, blink. Blink. Kili held his pipe, looking up at the man. "P-pipeweed," he offered. Then he offered the pipe. If the man wanted a puff or two?

The temptation was there, strong, but not to try something that might be an opiate but the curiosity to try something genuinely new. Instead of saying yes, he shook his head. "I'll pass but thanks for the offer. What is pipeweed? Is it like tobacco?"
