Dojo workout (Closed to Clint/Hawkeye)

Jul 14, 2013 17:12

Paris entered the dojo, searching for either Natasha or Clint. He spotted the archer and headed over to him greeting him with a friendly smile. "Not sure if you remember me? I'm Paris. You were going to give me some tips on modern archery? That is if you're available today. If not, I can come back another time?"

"I've got time," Clint didn't quite smile, but then he wasn't really a smiler. "And of course I remember you. Not a lot of well known archers in history man."

Lucky shot or not, the guy was part of the whole death of Achilles by an arrow in the heel mythos.

"Same, early teens." ancient Greece might be interesting, short term. He'd miss baseball season.

"I was trained to be a performer, not a soldier. Trick shots like the one I just did aren't easy, but they look far more difficult than they really are because they're a surprise."

"I've read that in modern days people live longer, so starting out in your early teens makes sense for your era."

Paris studied the law enforcement target a moment. It didn't show ankles and it made Paris grin a little as he shot his arrow. It hit where the heart would be. "You were trained as a performer, not a warrior?" This surprised the prince. "Can you tell me about that?"

"Depends on your line of work, I'm on a professional superhero team so I figure I'm gonna croak sooner rather than later." Not like he had powers like Thor or a suit like Stark.

"Not much to tell about being a performer," Clint laughed. It felt good, laughing when he hadn't in a while. "My brother and I were orphans, after our folks died, we stayed in foster care until we were going to be separated and then we took off. Joined the circus. Guess I looked like I had aptitude."

"What are superheroes?" Paris had not heard the term before.

Paris laughed softly, not to make fun of Clint, but because he was pleasantly surprised by Clint's tale. "You joined a circus?" It sounded like something Paris had read about in a novel. But even fiction was influenced by fact. "What was it like? Life in the circus."

"Superheroes are people with abilities beyond what normal people can do." Not unlike demigods. Actually CLint smiled wryly to himself he knew a couple demigods.

"We got to sleep in trailers, and play with elephants and the women wore scanty costumes. It could have been worse."

"People with abilities beyond those of normal men? We call them demi-gods where I am from." Paris grinned. "Like Hercules."

"How long were you with the circus? What made you leave?"

"Hercules I haven't met, but I am familiar with Thor." And Loki. Which was close enough if you asked Clint.

"We spent about eight years with them," why he left was long and complicated. "I got into some trouble, and my brother was gone so..."

Technically he'd been left for dead, but who wanted that story.

"Thor? Norse god of thunder? Is he here as well?" It wouldn't surprise Paris as other gods seemed to be here of their own volition as well.

"Your brother...he is still alive?" Paris asked carefully not knowing if this was a sensitive subject for the archer or not.

"He is not, not that I've seen anyway."

The question about Barney was complicated and he hesitated, "My brother is... gone."

Whether he meant dead or just not a part of his life is hard to determine from his tone.

"I am sorry for your loss." Paris gave Clint a look of sympathy. "I lost my brother Hector because of the war." Hector had died at the hands of un-honorable brute. "As for my other siblings, we just didn't really get along. Well there was Cassandra. I think I was the only one who believed in her gift of prophecy."

"Poor Cassandra," he knew that story too.

"And thanks, sorry for your loss as well."

Paris let out a little laugh and shook his head. "Forgive me, but it seems that my history is well known while I have to discover everyone else. I truly feel at a disadvantage."

Paris' hand stroked the upper limb of the bow. "I don't mean to pry, I am just curious."

"You're not prying, makes good sense to get to know people." Particularly when the story of Troy was mythology to people like him.

Hell he had a GED and he still knew the story.

Paris gained a smile, "I suppose so. Curiosity always gets the best of me."

"Speaking of which, I am curious to know...how long have you known Natasha?" He figured bringing up Natasha would be a safe subject as she was friend to both. "She spoke very highly of you."

"Me and Nat..." it stung a little to think about her but he managed a smile. "We go way back. Years. Met through work and just sort of clicked."

Which was the whitewashed version.
