there's nothing to celebrate [[ota]]

As far as Michonne is concerned, her world's still stuck in hell, and she doesn't really feel like pretending it isn't. It's the celebrating people did in Woodbury. The pretending that everything was fine. Maybe it was for some people. But she lost the one person she cared about, the person she promised herself she'd take care of. Alice didn't do well in crowds celebrating, either. She could handle them when Carlos has been around, but now she found she just felt awkward. She was always waiting for the shoe to drop, or for Wesker to show up and start something.

She moved into the forest to get away as well and was only a little surprised when she came upon Michonne. Alice could see some of herself in the other woman.

Michonne had heard her coming and was tense, ready to jump up if she needed to. But when she finally saw the other woman's face, she recognized her. At least she was someone who'd understand.

There's silence for a long stretch before Michonne finally says anything at all.

"Seems pointless to celebrate what doesn't exist anymore."

"Nope," Michonne says, holding a leaf between her fingers. It was dried and brittle, and when she presses, it starts to break apart.

"I stayed away from people on purpose. No reason to get attached. Stay alone, you don't have to cry when someone gets bit."
