Finally! Kamekona was excited for the heat that was suddenly emanated in the village. It wasn't quite Hawaii weather, but considering Kamekona had to put up with snow and spring, he was going to take whatever 'hot' weather he could have ( Read more... )

Melanie was used to warm weather -- the caves had been out in the desert, after all. She kind of liked the warm weather, especially when it was warm but not actually boiling hot outside. That was just uncomfortable and unhappy-making.

As she walked, she found herself near the beach. Which meant she found herself near Kamekona's truck. Curious, she approached and saw the man setting up the sign. Oh hey, she knew this guy after all! In the sense of having talked with him before. Once. What? Melanie wasn't good with the social!

"Hey," she greeted, casually studying the sign. "Cajun shrimp? What's that?"

"Is shrimp, but with a little spice." He waggled his eyes with a smile. "It's real good."

Melanie cocked her head thoughtfully. "It does sound good."

She was all for trying new things -- they hadn't really had much new in the caves, after all. They'd sort of been stuck with whatever they could manage to grow.

"You want some? They on special today. Not because they bad or anything, but because it's Tuesday and it's nice out." He grinned at the pretty lady.

Yuri was goofing off. The weather was fine and she was hitting the beach. She considered the pool but then Mughi would want to play with his aircraft carrier and she didn't feel like fetching planes. Besides, he could go swimming in the salt water and roll in sand and grass and it would be good for his fur.

"Mrrrr."

"I smell it," Yuri said. "Smells good."

Of course he wanted some, so there was no point in asking a stupid question. She got up and straightened her towel on the sand, checked to make sure her bikini was in order, then grabbed her bag with money in it.

"Hi. Got any with no breading?"

"Sure do." Kamekona greeted the very pretty lady with a big wide grin. "The classic scampi is the way to go if you ask me." He nodded a few times to further make his statement valid.

"Scampi?" She turned to Mughi. "Garlic doesn't upset your stomach, right? That cajun stuff is totally out."

Mughi was thinking more in the terms of 'how much can I get' than worrying about a stomach ache. Not that he enjoyed having gas any more than the people around him. He nodded his approval.

"Okay, um, double order of scampi? You have barbecued shrimp?" In theory, this was not for the cat.

"We have that too!" Kamekona was already walking around and inside the truck to start on her order. "Special Hawaiian barbecue sauce. Has a nice kick to it." He smiled proudly.

Erica decided to follow her nose while on her beat of the village. And when it led her to the shrimp truck, she decided, after resting a hand on her pregnant belly, that she and the kid definitely couldn't pass this up.

"I swear, this is the best smell in the entire village," she calls out, announcing her presence.

Kamekona looked up and grinned widely. "I take that as a personal compliment." He really did. "Maybe I should try to capture the scent and market it as a perfume?" He waggled his eyebrows, joking... mostly.

"I'd wear it," Erica laughs. "And my dogs would love it. In any case, I'll take the biggest single serving you have, of any flavour shrimp. Surprise me."

"A woman who likes surprises." He nodded in approval. "Best kind. More fun, in my opinion."

He walked into the truck and began to prepare everything. "Think you can handle something spicy?"
