Picnic in the Park ((Dated to this afternoon))

Apr 09, 2013 21:55

Castiel has never had a picnic before, but the weather was beautiful and he was in a very good mood. Of course, it wasn't your ordinary picnic, however: He'd ordered a lot of food from Las Manantas and was willing to share. There were beverages too, and a blanket was laid out on the ground because it wouldn't actually be a picnic without a blanket ( Read more... )

"A picnic. Really." The soft flutter of sounds came and Balthazar was suddenly standing a little off to the side of the blanket with his hands in his pockets casually looking at Castiel.

"Yes." Cas nodded and smiled, happy to see his brother. Even though they had actually seen each other pretty recently.

"Think of it as a celebration of Spring." Even though it had almost been Spring for half a month now.

"Is that all we're celebrating?" He raised his eyes and yes, he was probably asking on purpose. Though he did bend and end up sitting on the other edge of the blanket. For now. He wasn't staying. No. That'd be lame, you see.

"Maybe." Castiel blushed a bit. Anna hadn't actually said not to talk about it, but she did seem a little nervous to hear that Dean and Balthazar both knew about their first kiss. So, he wouldn't outright talk about the rest,

Kamekona was on his way home from a day at the Shrimp Truck. He had two big styrofoam contains of garlic shrimp and rice with him for dinner. He was cutting across the park when he happened to pick up the smell of the Mexican food.

"Mmm. Something smells real good!" He grinned as he approached, planning to continue to walk by.

"You're free to have some, if you'd like." Cas smiled up at the stranger, snacking on another chip. "There's enough to feed a small army. And I have beer."

That made him stop. He glanced down at his containers of shrimp, but suddenly Kamekona was hungry for something more foreign.

"I'll help feed the army by donating some delicious shrimp." Kamekona sat down, which took a moment and wasn't entirely graceful considering his size. Once sitting, he held out his containers.

He was a big guy, and his bald head sort of reminded Cas of Uriel's vessel, but he thought he'd keep that to himself. The man seemed friendly, and Cas smiled when he saw the container of food. "I've never had shrimp. Is it good? My name is Castiel, but the way."

Just Castiel, no 'angel of the lord' speech yet.

"Is there room for one more on your blanket?" She had approached on bare feet - she did like spring - and was peering down at him curiously, head cocked just so.

"Of course, it's a big blanket." Cas smiled over at River, and then motioned to one of the containers. "There's tacos in that one."

She found a space on the blanket and sank gracefully into a crosslegged position before reaching for the indicated container.

"This is... pleasant."

"It is." He agreed, passing a plate over to her. "How have you been, since the last time we spoke?"

Aaron walked to the park rather than flying, for a change. It was a beautiful day in any case, and he was enjoying himself.

As he'd discussed with Castiel, Aaron had with him a couple of large bags of assorted candy, the Nephilim's strength carrying them easily enough.

Spotting the angel in the park, Aaron made his way over.

"Castiel, hello." Aaron said, settling the bags of candy on one of the edges of the blanket. "How are you doing?"

Castiel grinned when Aaron came closer with the bags. "Very well, how are you? That's... a lot of candy." His eyes went wide.

"I'm doing well, thanks. I wasn't sure how many attendees you'd have." Aaron said. "Get a few kids over here, and those bags will go pretty fast."

He rummaged through one of the bags, coming out with a small tin of chocolate-covered strawberries which he offered to the angel. "As promised. Not as good as you'd get in the chocolate shop, but still tasty."

Cas took hold of the tin like a delighted child would, then motioned to the blanket. "You can sit, if you'd like."

And then he chuckled softly. "I think you were overestimating how many friends I have. But, yes I'm sure we can get kids to take some."

There was food in the park. Normally, Mughi was a go hunt in the woods for stuff at night kind of guy, but free-range Mexican did not come along every day. A black cat in the 400 pound range came directly up to the blanket, sat at the edge, and stared at the food, the antennae in his cheeks gently wafting in the air.

From some distance away came a woman's voice.

"Oh my gawd, don't let him eat refried beans!"

"Hi... kitty?"

Cas stared at the giant cat and pulled the containers of food closer to himself, raising a brow. "I... okay, do you want me to make sure he doesn't eat anything, then?"

Yuri came closer.

"Um, he could probably get that food from you, if he really wanted it." There was a lot of food for one guy, though it looked like he expected company. "He doesn't need it. It's not like he doesn't get fed or can't catch his own."

Mughi turned.

"Well, he can't get Mexican because he doesn't have credit at the Mexican place. He runs tabs at a couple of bars, but that's for the Irish coffee."

Yuri petted her cat.

"I'm Yuri and this is Mughi. He understands when we talk and he just asked if you had any chicken anything in there." She rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry. Sometimes he forgets the universe does not exist to spoil him."

Actually he'd asked specifically about chimichangas, but that sounded kind of pervy to ask a strange guy about so Yuri generalized the request.

Actually, Castiel could probably eat all this food, but even an angel didn't dare to do that. He'd ridiculously over-eaten enough once -not actually his fault- and then he hadn't wanted to see another hamburger in his life. Of course, since then, he's had one. But only one.

Cas didn't think the cat actually could get the food from him, but it wasn't something he was willing to say in case it decided it wanted to try after all.

Mughi confused him, because he was definitely not an ordinary cat. He didn't seem like some sort of demon animal either, though. And it made him sad that he couldn't understand his language, because Cas was actually pretty good at reading animals. Not that he couldn't 'read' him some other way. After all, it'd been kind of obvious that he'd been hungry.

He searched through one of the containers and pulled out three chicken tacos (no refried beans on those) and set them on a plate to put out in front of him. "These are chicken."
