The Brain is a fragile thing (ota)

The stars were whispering to her tonight and Drusilla was out in the evening night, clad in a white dress she remembered wearing a long, long time ago. She even fixed her hair with curls the way it used to be. She was led to the top of the hotel where she currently walked along the edge of the roof humming a song softly to herself. It was a song ( Read more... )

Again with the people on the rooftop. Draco was starting to think the cold was worth braving at the beach again if the rooftop was always busy.

"I do hope you're the immortal type, seeing as your balance could use some work," he spoke as he ambled past the woman, his eyes on the lookout for any patches of stubborn ice on that ledge.

"The bumblebee wants its pollen, but all the flowers are asleep." Her Cockney voice was soft as it spoke as if it was part of a song not yet set to music. Dru glance up to see him. "Have you seen my shoes? They ran away from home."

"Can't say that I have," he answered. "What sort of shoes? I'll be sure to tell them their mistress is searching for them."

"They're black and smell like cow." Dru peers down at her bare feet. Her toenails were painted black, much like her finger nails. "Maybe they've gone back to the little blonde who had them first."

Of course, the blonde was from 1891 and somewhere in Europe.

Perhaps the roof is not the best place to go to be alone. The young lady I have seen before, though I don't recall if she wore old-fashioned clothing then. Her dress does not appear modern. She's barefoot, too, but I can't tell if she's cold--she doesn't seem like it. How odd.

"My lady, is all well with you?" I don't want to startle her, certainly, not so close to the edge of the roof.

"I can't feel my heart." She pouted and sounded sad and maybe a little worried about it.

That's quite unexpected.

"Cannot feel your heart? Do you mean that you've gone numb from loss of feeling?" Perhaps someone close to her has left the village. "Or do you mean you cannot feel it beating? I often cannot feel mine."

Perhaps she is trying to frighten herself so that it beats harder? I'm not sure.

"I can't feel it's thump, thump, thump..." Dru peered down at her bare feet. "How am I supposed to dance without it?"
