Recovering and Exploring [ota]

Garrus got out of the hospital as soon as he could against medical advice. Not that any of them were familiar with turian physiology to have any idea how long he truly needed to recover from his injuries. Although they hadn't been wrong to suggest he stay as he was anything but healed, but Garrus was stubborn. And he couldn't stand laying on that ( Read more... )

Okay, so here's someone trying not to stare. It's not cool to stare, and seriously damages ones world weary, seen-it-all cred.

John at least had an excuse to look hard, but it totally wasn't staring.

"You're new here. I'd say welcome, but I figure, like the rest of us it wasn't your idea."

Garrus turned to look at the bald human. He chuffed, but groaned at the pain it caused from the movement of his damaged mandible.

"Yeah... definitely not my idea."

John's face contorted in sympathy.

"Looks like you got chewed up pretty good there."

"Stopped a rocket with my face. Not as fun as you might think." Garrus joked, dryly.

Jokes were easier than dealing with what lead up to that point. How he'd gotten people who'd followed him killed. And about how he'd been betrayed.

Mortals came and went in the village and Ares rarely paid attention except when he felt a warrior enter. They were rare enough to get his attention and this one was even more rare because of who (or what) Ares suspected him to be.

In a shimmer of light between one breath and the next, the god of war appeared near Garrus, walking beside him.

The eyepiece he wore, alerted him immediately of someone's sudden proximity seemingly out of nowhere. And he'd seen the shimmer of light out of the corner of his eye.

He reacted purely on instinct, hand going for rifle and then turning in a fluid motion to aim the weapon straight at Ares' head.

Garrus had just spent weeks fighting for his life, so forgive him for being a little jumpy.

"Who're you...?" Garrus asked tentatively, his mandibles flaring.

"You're lucky that my ego is stronger than Aphrodite's." Ares said as he pulled down the edges of his leather vest and a hint of a smirk on his lips. "I'm Ares."

That just left Garrus confused. He'd have been frowning, if turians could frown, "You say that like I should know who you are..."

There was a touch of familiarity though. Perhaps something he'd read of human theology. Quite a few turians took to the human religions.
